STATISTICS OF THE RISING CRIME RATE IN THE WINDSOR COMMUNITY
Windsor-Essex County has exponentially been on a steep uphill climb among other similar municipalities, towns and counties with rising crime. Data collected by the Windsor Police Service shows a significant increase in certain crimes from 2011 to 2019. Theft of items under $5,000 recorded with a total of 2815 incidents in 2011 compared to 2019 with 4286 recorded incidents. An increase of 41%, this number will only continue to grow as offenders develop the concerning disregard for law enforcement and our justice system.
Break & Enter offences recorded in 2016 was 1275 incidents compared to 2019 where it was recorded to have 1814 incidents. That is an increase of 35% in our community.
Motor Vehicle Thefts offences recorded in 2014 were 386 incidents compared to 855 incidents in 2019, an increase of 75%.
